Compiled with: DNSMAP LDAPMAP LOG MAP_REGEX MATCHGECOS MILTER MIME7TO8
MIME8TO7 NAMED_BIND NDBM NETINET NETUNIX NEWDB NIS NISPLUS
PIPELINING SCANF USERDB USE_LDAP_INIT USE_TTYPATH XDEBUG

============ SYSTEM IDENTITY (after readcf) ============
(short domain name) $w = hostname
  (canonical domain name) $j = domainname.com.au
         (subdomain name) $m = <null>
              (node name) $k = hostname

Add to /etc/resolv.conf

domain mydomain.tld

or customize the $m macro in /etc/sendmail.cf like

$mmydomain.tld

If you choose the latter option issue

refresh -s sendmail

after changing semdmail.cf

Thanks.
Actual solution was to add nodename.domain.tld to the host file for public IP.
