Crystal report not showing on Remote Site

I have created an web site that includes a Crystal Report created with Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010.

I can browse it ok on my localhost, but when I copy the web site to the Remote Hosting provider's site, the Crystal Report is not showing. It shows a blank space.

Anyone experienced this before or knows what the cause could be?

Thanks and regards.

WHat did you copy to the remote host?
    Most do not support Crystal.

To use Crystal on a website, you have to install the Crystal runtimes.  SInce they are version dependent most sites don't support Crystal since that would mean they would have to add many copies of the runtime.

Also most versions of Crystal require special licensing if you host it on a website.

    thanks for the response.

Can I work around this by providing the installation .exe of Crystal Reports for VS2010 to my hosting provider and asking them to install it on the shared server for me?

    Accepted Solution

No.  They would need a license for Crystal to do that.

Also there are other licensing issues that have to be worked around to host on a server.
Check this document (in particular pages 4 and 5)

SAP Crystal Licensing for versions up through CR2011

It indicates to use a commercial hosting service an OEM contract is required.

do you know an approximate cost, or ranges of cost, or a minimum cost, for an open web site hosted on a shared hosting plan, vs a private web site payed by subscriptions?
