Need to access SBS 2008 reiderected folders.

What is the easiest way to get Admin rights to an SBS 2008 server redirected user’s folder without causing the user to lose access? I need it for an automatic online backup but I should also look in the folders for music files or personal junk from time to time.

Not sure what you are asking for. Are you trying to give admin rights for some users? if so, you can add that user as domain administrator group or local adminisrators group to achive your target.

I have the desktops and documents folders redirected from the workstations to the SBS 2008 server. By default they created with only the original users having permission to open them. All I can do, as Domain Admin, is to take ownership of them. If I take ownership the user can't access their desktop anymore. I need an easy way to get control without creating log in problems on the users workstations Monday morning.

I hope that is clearer for you. I have seen a few fixes on the internet but I don't want to screw up and that is why I am here.

I was biting my nails for about an hour as the permissions where changed to F. But it worked great and all the user logged in without any issues. I can now browse everyone's folders from the server. I was really shocked at all the mp3's the users had downloaded to their workstations.
I often disable Music and Photo redirection when I set up a server. Too often a user saves 20GB of baby pictures to their desktop, which replicates to the server.
I do not usually change the permissions but I do install Treesize professional which lets you locate the large files and folders, even when you do not have permission to view the actual file.
