It used to be important to pay out £299 to get a new site into Yahoo index for the positive knockon effect for Google etc.
I do not know whether this would be money properly spent today given the changes that have taken place in the last couple of years.
Can anyone advise please.

Last I heard, Yahoo was getting their search results from Microsoft's Bing search engine.  I wouldn't spend the money to get listed.  There might be value in doing some advertising.
