All of a sudden, I guess to keep up with Norton and McAfee, NOD32 will bring the computer down to a grinding halt by starting up an On-Demand Computer Scan.

I don't see anyway to prevent this from happening and the human working there probably won't get to my email for years to come.

Anyone know how to prevent this?  Is there a "Slow down my computer at XX:XX time" option?

Switch to Microsoft Security Essentials and this should not be an issue any longer.

The on demand scan has profiles (settings) that you can select. How to change the profiles can be found here.

gerwinjansen:  I don't see where you can stop it though... or change a time.  This just started happening.

Despite its humble beginnings, phishing has come a long way since those first crudely constructed emails. Today, phishing sites can appear and disappear in the length of a coffee break, and it takes more than a little know-how to keep your clients secure.

I am using NOD32 for the past 6 years. Never had any problems, loads faster and very low cpu usage.
Are you using NOD32 on a corporate network or on individual computer.
Settings vary for individual user and for network management console
