Project hosting in IIS

Hi guys...

I have a .net website project, say Project1. The path of this project in my system is: d:\project

The folders inside my project (d:\project) is project and project.suo which is a solution file.

Now if I want to host my project in IIS, I have to give my virtual path upto d:\project\project.

Now , I have created a new project in the same solution called project2. Now the folders in my path d:\project are project, project2 and project.sln

project2 is also a separate website.

So, do I need to give a separate virtual directory for project2 also, to make it run ?

Can't I use the same virtual directory for Project by placing the Project2 inside Project1?

I tried it. But I am getting an error. Please see the attached image

Actual my requirement is:

I use Actual directory authentication to see the web pages in project. There will be link on master page of Project to go to Project2 where I should not ask the user to enter the activedirectory credentials to log on ?

Is it  possible.

If so, how ? Please help me in this.

the error you sent only says (in plain english) "you cant see the actual error from where you are..."
to see the actual error , if you have rdp access to the hosting server, then browse locally ON THE SERVER to the web site so you'll see the actual error and not the one above which says nothing. if not, then you'll need to create custom error handling that will deliver the error message
now for the other questions, you can have as many sub directories in a single web site, so placing project2 inside project1 will work, but it is the same web-site (only project1's web-config will apply, and project1's dat forlder, bin folder abd other asp.net folders) so if you NEED them to be separate, you have to create virtual directories for both, if not then consider working to merge the two into 1 web site.

Thank you ErezMor for the reply....

I will follow either one of the following options:

1. Create the new project in a new solution

Create a sub directory or Sub folder to hold my project2 web pages which will have complete new master pages and new content pages that does not match with any of the project1 pages as per my requirement.
