Error in set up SQL Server 2008 enterprise evaluation edition

Hello,

I couldn't able to install SQL Server 2008 enterprise evaluation edition.

When I install it with "New instance" then it says ".NET framework and updated installer should be in machine". Then I downloaded .net framework 3.5 and tried to install but it is giving "Debugger" window with below message:

"An unhandled win32 exception occured in setup.exe (2952)"

FYI, I've already SQL Server 2005 named instance on my machine. I have Windows XP Professional.

Can anyone help me on this?

Best Regards,
Mohit Sharma

Enterprise demands a Windows Server if you attempt to install the server part.
The SSMS is another story.

Se operating system on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(v=SQL.100).aspx

So please clarify, are you attempting to install the SQL server, if so please use developer edition, and you'll succeed?

Hello,

I checked on Microsoft website and they say that we can install Enterprise evaluation edition on XP service pack 2; note only evaluation edition.
Please find this link and let me know your thoughts, why it is not being installed

thanks
I did investigate again and found that it gives an error when I wanted to install 3.5 dotnet framework. I think that it is not related to SQL Server.
Do you have any comments for this?
