Windows 7 Starter
Trying to install Office, get the following error message:
Error Opening installation log file. Verify the specified log file location exists and is writeable.
Have tried microsoft indicated ix, but will not load that program either.

Did you do a Runas Administrator?

Uninstall your security software...reboot and then try installing office.

download reset.cmd.txt ...rename it to reset.cmd....run reset.cmd...after completing reboot computer and then try install office.

Computer might be infected.
Run combofix
download.bleepingcomputer.
After running combo fix reboot computer and run malwarebytes.

After removing all spyware..try installing office.

this is new laptop, just took it out of box.
windows installer seem to be corrupted.
Run this fixit.
