Exporting photo Albums from iPhoto 11 to iPhone 4 iOS 5

Operating systems: MAC OSX 10.7.2, iOS 5

Here is what I did:

Start iTunes with iPhone connected - recognized by iTunes 10.5, backup completed
Selected iPhone...Photos
Selected Photos, Sync window opens
Selected 'Sync Photos from iPhoto'
Clicked 'Selected albums, Events and Faces and automatically include no Events'

Opened iPhoto and clicked on album 'iPod Memories'

In iTunes 'Albums' pane only listings were 'Last 12 Months' and 'Last Import' - selected album 'iPod Memories' not listed and '0 Photos' in 'Sync Photos from iPhoto'

in iPhoto selected [Option-A] all photos in 'iPod Memories'
Still no photos listed '0 Photos'

Click 'n Drag Album 'iPod Memories' or individual photos to 'Albums' pane has no effect

How do I sync iPhoto album 'iPod Memories' (and several others) with iPhone?

Finally was able to sync album to iPod (didn't want to corrupt iPhone)  by:

Selected Photos, Sync window opens
Selected 'Sync Photos from Choose Folder...'

navigated to folder containing photos, selected, started sync - then:

The iPod 'TopQuark' cannot be synced. An unknown error ocurred (-50).

How do resolve this - restore from backup?

Moved activity to MacBook Pro - OSX 10.7.2, able to sync photos from selected folder OK. Problem with MacMini? Need to reinstall iTunes/Lion?

Did you upgrade your photos and albums after moving to iPhoto 11?
Could be a corrupt image on the mac mini iPhoto library... ...that would be a pain to track down.

Try a disk repair on the mac mini using disk utility.

or you could try to create a new album with the photos you want synced and try this one.

I tried upgrading photos/albums and creating new album - no help with iPhoto 11 or Aperture 3.2.

After considerable expermenting with 2 platforms (OSX 10.7.2, WIN 7 Pro) and 2 iOS versions (4.3, 5) and 4 generations of iPods, I conclude the issue is with OSX Lion, iOS 5 or iTunes. No  problems syncing photos (specific folders) with iPod iOS 4.3 on these platforms.

As the ImTOO software Studio [www.imtoo.com] will be upgrading iPodWorks to support iOS 5, I will wait. I find this application works quite well with iOS 4.3 and iPod photo move/copy.
