VOIP Gatekeeper on different coast?

Our VOIP phones are one side of the United States and the Gatekeepers are all on the other coast  2000 to 3000 miles away?

Is this a good design?

Will there be jitter and lower mos scores?

It's fine.   But do you mean gateways instead of gatekeepers?

I believe it is gatekeeper for call setup.

The gateway is where the pots hooks into the voip network?

So the call setup traffic RTCP has to go 3000 miles and back approximately.

I think that we have local gateways here.
