Hello:

I just purchased an Apple airport extreme.  I’ve hocked it up and am getting a great signal. The problem is only my iPad 2 is getting on the internet. Both my iPhone 4S and my older Apple TV are connecting to the wireless but are not getting on the internet. I think it has to do with the 2.?ghz vr the 5ghz. I think I read where the TV and iPhone are 2.? and the iPad 2 is 5. I thought the airport did both signals, that’s why I bought it. Can’t figure out in the airport utility where those setting are.

Thanks for you help

If they are connecting to the wireless, that would tend to eliminate the different ghz ranges as the issue.

If you are using WPA or WEP as an encryption protocol, try temporarily turning it off every where. If that works, then most likely there is some discrepancy between how the iPhone and Apple TV devices are set and how the iPad is set in relation to the Airport.

I won't be able to try this untill I get home later tonight. Thanks for your response, that makes sense as when I went into the utility at went to just 5 ghz the iPhone would not connect to the wirless at all.

Especially if you have a new airport and an iPhone 4S those should both work together just fine.

Update:

First I moved the setting from the default Wep tp Wep/Wpa personal. Taht seemed to work, so I still wanted to try to shut it all off. When I did that my iPhone would not even connect to signal. I went back to Wep/Wpa personal and then both thr iPad and Iphone did miserable on the speed test. I restarted the airport, then the iPad was OK, but iPhone still did miserable!! It was late when I tried it so I'll have more time tonight and may try Apple suport

It appears I was to concerned on the speedtest with a speedtest app. My results still seem low, but my speed is good!
