Websense and printing

We have attempted to deploy the websense client in our environment and on a bunch of windows 7 machines it hangs. We looked at the .WER files and it points to the spoolsv.exe. If we stop the print spooler service all is well. However when we turn the print spooler service back on it continues to hang. Any idea?

Are you talking about logonapp.exe?

No,
If we install websense the the print spooler service must be stopped in order for the Operating system to function.

Ok. The only component I am aware of with Websense is that little agent, mentioned above. I don't get into that end of it in our environment here to know what you are referring to.....

Does this affect all systems though?

Not all systems but rather a lot. It's consistent to break if we re push to these computers.

I'm going to throw this out there and it might be completely wrong but do the computers that you have to stop the spooler service on have any network printers installed (maybe the same one)?  I'm a little familiar with the Websense remote filter, maybe it is blocking a connection attempt to an IP address which then hangs the spooler service.  Have you checked the websense logs on the server side to see if it reports anything for one of those computers?

Credit has been giving due to that the spolsv.exe is the heart of the problem.
We have worked a solution with the company and the new release of the product will fix the issues, fingers crossed.....
