Xenserver upgrade

As we haven't performed large upgrades before, and this is production environment I would appreciate advise on the process.

We have:
one dell EQ SAN with about 50 VMs on it running iscsi SR.
three DELL servers with Xenserver 5.5 on it, running one pool and serving the 50 VMs. We have the full monty Xenserver license with HA etc.

we now want to move to Xenserver ver 6.0 in a controlled fashion on all three hosts to get more functionality and less bugs, without more than necessary downtime.

Has anyone done this and can share any experiences, tips etc for us to beware of?

regards Josef

    first check the hcl.

then you have to install version to version up to version 6
starting with the pool-master then all members to version 5.6 and so on.

another way is to separate one server from the pool, make a clean ver6 install and migrate the possible amount of VM's - then the next server.
... but you need extra-storage for this time ... i use the local SR of the XenHost

    Hi, thanks.

We probably want to keep our pool. So we first take all three members to 5.6 and then again to 6.0. Starting with Pool master each round.

Any experience on 6.0, is it stable?

Ok, I think well goto same as you, 5.6SP2. This is a complete iso/dvd, not only a service pack?
