Hello all

Windows 2003 Domain
Windows 2003 Servers

I have two domain in my organization that I would like to collapse or break the trust. I have my main domain that most of my users are in and an other domain with about 70 users with shares and computer objects.

Is there an easy  way I can export or migrate the users, printers, shares to the main domain then break the trust

OR can I demote on of the DC in the secondary domain and promote it to the main domain and somehow the users will be magically merged into the AD of the main domain. Even as I type this I know its not that simple

Check out Microsoft's Active Directory Migration Tool available here.  Even though that tool is described for use with Windows NT, note that the article describes source domains to include Windows 2003.

HI thanks yes I agree, this is the tool to use. Will the printer objects be migrated also?

It has been a very long time since I used it and I don't really remember, but I think it works for all objects.  What I did back in the day was to set up a test environment to run through it.  It is much easier to do most things the second time around.  Setting up a test environment should be much easier now when virtual with VMWare or Hyper-V.  That way if you run into a screen where you're not sure how to proceed, the risk is minimal.
