The name could not be resolved. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Hello There,

I just like to seek for any inputs that you can provide to me with regards to this issue. Here is the background of the problem. New Laptop was installed with Windows 7 Os and Office 2010. Configured the Outlook 2010 with Outlook Anywhere while connected via the company's domain.

After the laptop has been dispatch overseas, the user complain that he cannot use Outlook and that after installing windows update and service pack, the Outlook settings were reset. When I tried to configure his Outlook via Exchange Server again, this is the error that I am always getting -

The name could not be resolved. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action

By the way, I can ping, even RDP to the exchange server while connected into VPN on his laptop where i am configuring his Outlook account. But still no luck. I tried adding WINs address on the local machine but no avail. telnet port 25 and able to do so. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Delete the outlook profile and recreate once again hope this should not be a problem as u r able to ping the exchange server from laptop.

Go to control panel --> Mails --> click on show profiles --> remove that profile and create a new one.

@ akicute555 - thanks, i will check that with the problematic laptop with Outlook Anywhere and let you know of the result.

@Ahmed786 - i was trying to recreate the profile, but when i am already in the stage that you already entered the exchange server name and the username and click check name, then this error will come up, so i cannot proceed. even if i close it, it will prompt again that the exchange server should be online.
