When I try to grant receive as and send as permissions to the BESAdmin user using Exchange Management Shell it gives me the following error message.

Get-MailboxServer : A Parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name ' ¦ '
At line:1 char18
+ get-mailboxserver   <<<< "SERVER" ¦ add-adpermission -user "BESAdmin" -accessrights ExtendedRight -extendedrights Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin, Send-As

I've setup BES Servers before so don't understand why I'm having issues with this one.

Help!!!

GET-MAILBOXSERVER is not required, instead try with db level or user level

Add-ADPermission –identity "<custom database name>" –user "<besadmin>" -accessrights GenericRead, GenericWrite -extendedrights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin

good luck

To set permission on DB level,
Get-MailboxDatabase | Add-ADPermission -User "BESAdmin" -AccessRights ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin

Good Luck

Looking into your syntax in detail, ¦ is throwing the error.

Is that a pipe '|" ?

Are you able to get the mailbox server name using 'Get-MailboxServer' alone?

Just run get-mailboxserver  to list the mailbox server

to get the db listed, run get-mailboxdatabase
