SSIS 2005 - range of SQL servers it had reach

can SSIS 2005 package be able to hit any sql server database on the market now?

what i mean is the current available sql server versions are
sql 2000
sql 2005
sql 2008
sql 2008 R2
sql Denali

from one package, if need be, can i have 5 connection strings to the above 5 versions of databases?

1)when you say "specific features of these versions", can you give an example, please?
2)is the same true for SSIS R2 package : can it hit 2000/5/8/denali data? - same as 2005, only more new features.
if you are in 2000 compatibility mode, don't try anything related to spatial, date, datetime2, ... datatypes

I am not a big user of SSIS. I use that data part every day but not SSIS
