I have created a word document with pull down lists but what file ext do I save it as so the pull down menus become active

Ive created a pull down lists in Word 2003 within a standard document.  I have tried saving the document as a .dot but the pull down menus do not become active.

Can someone advise me please?

Make sure your drop-downs are not in "Design" view (I believe in 2003 this is an option on the toolbar.  You shouldn't need to save the document as a different file extension at all.

Also, you could "protect" the document "for forms" - meaning only allow the user to fill out the parts of the document that are form-related, like your drop-downs, check boxes, etc.
Are you able to attach your file here?  It might be clearer what is wrong if we could see the specific file you are working with.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I'm back at work in the morning will update then and attach file
Whatever type of control they are, it won't make any difference if the file is saved as a template or as a document.

Thanks for all responses, however, the first suggestion to PROTECT the document did the trick.
