Code 32 on iSCSI device
I have created an iSCSI target on a synology DS411+II NAS which I would like to connect on a SBS 2008 server.
I can log on to the target in the iSCSI Initiator.
After that I go disk managent where I expect to find the target where it does not show. In the DSM webinterface I get the Service status connected.
When I go to the device manager I see an yellow warning sign on the Synology iSCSI Storage SCSI Disk Device.
I have attached the properties in a screenshot.
On my workstation (windows 7) I can connect just fine with the iSCSI initiator.

remove it and let it detect again.

The screenshot you provide suggest that the driver is not appropriate. Do you have to install any client software comming with the NAS device (OR Drivers provided on a CD/DVD)?
I didn't install any software, just used the iSCSI Initiator which is installed by default in Windows 2008
Also... what kind of OS you are trying to connect to the NAS device.
Windows Small Business Server 2008 shows the error, Windows 7 64 bit connects just fine.
Is the iSCSI intiator [FRE or CHK] and is it "BOOT" or not?
Can you let me know where I can find those settings?
remove it and let it detect again.
I removed it, rebooted the server and let it detect again.
The same warning shows.

See if some of these software packages will help. There is some kind of "Assistant".

Is there any error messages in the eventvwr.msc ? Especialy in "System" log.

I've initially use that assistant application to install the DSM (basically it's OS).
The other downloads are extensions and manuals which don't have any information about this problem.

Is there any other machine connected to the iSCSI target at the same time? Is there a limit of concurent connections, and is the target configured for shared or exclusive access?
You can try using different initiator and see if it works.

The other initiator gives the same error.
I've connected once to my desktop to test the iSCSI, which worked fine.
After that I removed the iSCSI on my desktop and there is an only iSCSI connection to the server.

OK the error message actualy says that a driver or service associated with the device is disabled.
So let's see which services and drivers are disabled on the machine. Just run those two commands and post the output:

Unfortunately there is nothing to point me to a possible reason for the problem. Is there any error messages in the Event Log?
ASKER
I can't view the event logs right now, so I will post them later.
Do you know if it is possible to change the startmode and state from the drivers?
Do you know if it is possible to change the startmode and state from the drivers?
Well yes... it is possible, but I don't know if that will help in the current situation.
1: "Device Manager" -> "View" -> "Show Hidden Devices" -> "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" -> "Properties" -> "Driver" Tab.
--OR--
2: Run "regedit.exe" -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentCon trolSet\Se rvices\ -> {DRIVER} (or service) -> Start (DWORD):
0 - Boot
1 - System
2 - Auto
3 - Manual
4 - Disabled
It is a good idea to export a backup of the registry before makin any modifications.

It isn't really a solution, the existing HP driver messed things up
Also... what kind of OS you are trying to connect to the NAS device.
