Storing form data (non database)?

If I wanted to have my visitor on my website fill out a form, and then my site stores the data, but not in a database something like a session a or what you would use for a shopping cart. What is the best way to do this? I don't know much about sessions or array? Can someone guide me one which way I should go?

Windows Server, CF 9

An array is just a data structure, it's not applicable to a discussion of where you store data... it's just avariable type.

You have to choose among database or session variables.   To me, the only convenient and practicle answer is the database... I wouldn't want to take up system resources with session variables to store carts and then have the session time-out so the shopper loses everything.

The database is really the best approach, why don't you want to use it?

I just want to use it so the visitor can search on the site and the system stores the search criteria,

Not sure what searcing has to do with whether or not you store your cart in the database?

You can also store your search criteria in the database too... that way if the user returns to their computer in the future, you could still have the cart available, and the search as well..
