mpt-status for megaraid_sas (debian squeeze)

HI
We have 2 IBM 3550 M3 Server which has

LSI M5014 Raid controller

and the kernel sees the driver

lspci -v | grep -iE 'raid|scsi'
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic LSI MegaSAS 9260 (rev 03)
        Kernel driver in use: megaraid_sas

as far i belived mpt-status s hould give a report on this controller.. but it does not .

please have a look bellow commands

root@mfdb:~# mpt-status -s
ioctl: No such device
root@mfdb:~# mpt-status -p
Checking for SCSI ID:0
ioctl: No such device
root@mfdb:~# mpt-status
ioctl: No such device

lsmod | grep mptctl
mptctl                 20982  0
mptbase                48382  1 mptctl
scsi_mod              126533  4 mptctl,sd_mod,megaraid_sas,libata

but still it does not provide the raid status.

can any one give me some light  why it could be ..
thanks for your help

DavidCommented:
The problem is that the megaraid family (the RAID family) of controllers don't use the mpt family drivers.  The mpt family is for the non-RAID SAS JBOD cards.

not aware of one.  hooking into the mrsas is problematic, unlike megaraid.  (we write this code for appliance vendors).  I am not aware of a freebie, and you probably don't want to contract a debian port for my company to do it  :)

i was able to download megactl program from

http://hwraid.le-vert.net/wiki/DebianPackages

with megactl i can see raid status

a0d0       135GiB RAID 1   1x2  optimal
a0d1       556GiB RAID 10  2x2  optima

I respectfully object to closing for zero.  The question was why the mpt-status didn't work, and that question was answered correctly.
