Deleting email in "OUTBOX"

I want to delete an email that's sitting in the OUTBOX - I can't as hard as I try - I get the following message when I try to delete -

Cannot open this item.  Outlook has already begun transmitting this message.

I have Outlook 2010 and Windows 7 - thanks.

Close Outlook - pull out your LAN cable or disable Wi-Fi and then open Outlook again.

Wait for Send / Receive to fail and then go to the Outbox and delete the email(s).

Plug your LAN cable back in or enable Wi-Fi.

Job done.

I don't see a cancel in the send and receive tab - is that the tab on the upper righr of Outlook or the upper left of Outlook?
Try my method :)  It works 100% of the time for me.
Got it -
