Public Display/Noticeboard System

I am trying to find a software solution which will fit the following description:

We are looking to have a 'noticeboard' display in one of our staff areas which will essentially run a presentation on a loop with useful information for our staff.

We could just run powerpoint on a PC and have the operator who will update the presentation to VNC onto the machine, close the presentation, make the changes that they want, open it again and run the slideshow but this is not an ideal solution.

I am really trying to find something that will run in full screen mode on either a windows or linux based PC or thin client with the content shown on teh screen being able to be updated either via a windows application or via a web-browser.

Any suggestions for either commercial software or something free would be most appreciated.

I use a great free tool called Xibo (http://xibo.org.uk/)

This is featuring a client server model, where you are hosting contents, schedule etc on a server, and client displays (Windows, Linux) are polling the contents and doing its job.

Thanks for that - Xibo looks to be exactly the sort of thing hat I was looking for. Have been searching for something like this for ages.

Thanks for your help with this - really appreciated!!
