Convert .mov to format compatible with DVD player

I'm new to video conversion and am going crazy trying to find something that works. I have a quicktime (.mov) file that I need to convert into a file that will play on standard TV DVD players as the president of the company wants to hand out copies of this. I'm really not getting very lucky. Any points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
