gpupdate /force not working with GPO Preference Drive mapping

I have made a GPO with preference/drive mapping.

When the user logon on he gets the drive mapped  :o)

If for some resaon the user don´t have the drives and need to reconnect to the drive, they should have the option to run gpupdate /force. But it don´t work. The user need to logoff and logon again to get the mapped drives.

I have tried to change the  "NoBackgroundPolicy" value from 1 to 0 in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\{5794DAFD-BE60-433f-88A2-1A31939AC01F}

I have tried to change the  "NoBackgroundPolicy" value from 1 to 0 in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\wow6432Node\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\GPExtensions\{5794DAFD-BE60-433f-88A2-1A31939AC01F}

But still the same issue no drive is beiing mapped when i run gpupdate /force????????

Found the answer, it map the drives okay, the soultion work :o)

But you are only able to se them in net use, bacause the drives is being mapped with the user session.

If i kill explore process and start it again the drives also show in explore.

It looks like the GPO is for computer settings which are not re-applied when gpupdate runs. You need to unfortunately reboot a client to get this again

Drive mappings always require a log off/log on. Even as preferences.

It is dumb.
