How do I recover Deleted Browsing History

Posted on 2011-10-20

I have a client who had someone come in and use one of their computers.

Whoever it was deleted their browsing history.

Is there any way I can get it back so I can check timestamps?

cjoego--The folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 contains an index.dat file.  Content.IE is a hidden file so you must open Windows Explorer's Organize button|Folders and Options Search |View tab and UNcheck the box "Hide protected operating system files".  You may also need to be running Windows Explorer as an Adminstrator.
Once you can see the index.dat file you will need a viewer to open it.  Try Index.dat viewer
You should now have the info you want.  Note the tabs in this program.  One is labelled "Index.dat" but some of the other tabs may also be useful.
