Visual Web Developer Express vs. Visual Studio Pro

If I create a project in VWD, can it be opened as a project in VS Pro? Or does it need to be converted in some way?

Yes it can be opened and used in VS Pro. Your only limitation is the version of .NET has to be compatible. So for example if you use VWD 10 and .NET 4 and try to open that in VS 2008 it will not work. So in short whatever version of VS Pro you think you will be going to make sure you are using the equivalent VWD.
