exchange 2010 resource calendar mailbox

does anyone know if it is possible to book a 2010 sp1 resource calendar mailbox from outside exchange. trying to book a conference room from outside and when you book the resource it will doublebook the room if someone within exchange has already reserved it plus the user will not get the auto reply if it is accepted or declined.

so this is a non exchange user setting up a meeting against a calendar resource we have configured within exchange it works perfectly from within exchnage

It is not possible to allow external users to book resource calendars.

Please refer to the following: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/da/exchange2010/thread/6a901241-0439-44b9-88d9-5175c997e488

I manage 3 Exchange envirnoments in 3 separate, yet trusted forests.  Exchange "A" & "B" are 2010 and Exchange "C" is 2003.  Exchange B & C are able to book 'tentative' meetings for conference room objects in A; however they do not receive email confirmation (as a local user would in "A").  Further to that, meeting conflicts are permitted to occur.  I've tried logging into the conference room object via OWA to review settings and reviewed all settings via the Exchange Shell for the conference room object in question, but can't find the setting needed to fix this undesired behavior.  Reference MS TechNet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335046.aspx   Also reviewed this doc but no joy.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2005631         Constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
