decommission a distribution list.

A question on Exchange 2003.

We need to decommission a distribution list with a smtp address. .

Is it possible to place an out-of-office notification that reads?

    With a distribution list you cannot set a Out of Office.

    Is it not possible to set OOO for DL.

    but another way,

    Rename the smtp address in DL, wait for replciation
    You can create a mailbox with the DL's email address, then you can set the OOO.
