I need to calculate the month of the quarter based on a date value and without using VBA/Macros.
Example:
Month       QTR  Qtr_Mo
1/1/11       1            1
5/1/11       2             2

Please see attached file.

Try this formula in B7

=MOD(MONTH(B4)-1,3)+1

format B7 as general and then copy formula across to M7

...of course you already have current month in B6 so you could make that simple bt replacing MONTH(B4) with B6, i.e.

=MOD(B6-1,3)+1
