How to install VMWARE Workstation 8 linux version on the CENTOS 6.0?

I had installed CENTOS 6 on my USB drive, and it runs fine.  I attempted to install VMWARE Workstation 8 Linux version on the CENTOS 6, but I could not get it to install.  I downloaded a trial copy of the VMWARE Workstation 8 linux on the CENTOS 6, and tried to run it.  Can someone please help or provide me the steps or tips how to install vmware workstatin 8 linux version on my CENTOS 6?

What are the errors/problems you are seeing?

The more info you can give to us, the faster you will get an answer to your problem.
If you downloaded a tar archive (vmware_workstation_XXX.tar.gz) then simply do (as root):

- move the vmware tar to where you want to install it (maybe /usr/local is good)
- tar xzf vmware*.tar
- cd [new directory created by tar command]
- ./vmware-install.pl

That will walk you through building all the modules and whatnot.

Then once that is done, should be able to go back to your user (non-root) login in a graphical environment run "vmware" or "vmplayer".

It should create a shell script in /usr/bin that will set up the environment each time you run it.

If you run into issues, as Papertrip mentioned, be very verbose in describing what you did, and what errors if any that you got.
