Settingd domain computers firewall through GPO

I have 2 questions:

1. Are there any good guides that would help me setup a GPO to control domain workstation firewalls? I want to open ports for antivirus, and MSP software on all my workstations.

2. Are there any good guides to help a GPO beginner understand GPO's. I admit that there is a gap in my knowledge, and the subject is a bit intimidating at times.

I have both SBS 2003 and 2008 R2 Servers. Workstations are all XP or 7.

Thank you in advance!
