Some windows updates were not installed?

I am trying to update a windows xp Pro.  I have it set to install automatically and have removed any and all viruses that were on the PC. When I select "windows update" and select Express, a list of updates populates.  When I then select Install Updates, it looks like it is installing the updates but then says, "Some windows updates were not installed." How can I make it so that these updates get installed?

If you reboot and try again do the same number of updates fail?

Yes
One thing I've notice is that the internet is connected, doesn't say limited or no connectivity, but the packets that are sent and received are really low. The connections on all my other computers through the same connection is normal.
the updates that cause this most of the time are .net framework updates or office updates if you you have microsoft update installed. See what updates are failing. Sometimes I have to uninstall what .net framework versions are on the computer and then download the installs from the micosoft website, reinstall them and then run windows update again.

Other times it is driver updates that fail to install in which case for example, if its your video card driver update not installing you can go to nvidia, ati or intel and get the latest update through the manufacture instead of windows update.
Yeah it looks like it is a bunch of security updates as well as the .NET updates and MS Office.
