Trixbox Professional, alternative

Say, this seems only available on subscription.
Is there an alternative that one needs to simply pay for once?

They also sell it as a 'lifetime' license and you can convert from a monthly to a lifetime but you wont get any credit for what you paid monthly.

Here's a link to a vendor with pricing,

http://www.voiplink.com/trixbox_Pro_Standard_Edition_Lifetime_Licenses_p/trixbox-pro-std-license.htm

If you have a subscription setup probably want to check directly on your account for the cost.  It may be the same either way as the linked price is a 'key'.

If you want to get away from per use cost and/or functionality addons you probably would need to get a freely available Asterisk package.  Then get commercial support on that.

Here is some info on freepbx support,

Voip companies also often provide consulting services for Asterisk configuration.

A number of the free distro's are plain Asterisk with freepbx on top for a web management interface.

Digium also offers Asterisk support on a per server basis,

Have you looked at 3CX?

http://www.3cx.com/phone-system/index.html

Its not Asterisk and its windows based but it has a good feature set and has been around for a while.  The 'free' version is pretty limited but the commercial version is sold based on the concurrent call capacity not the number of users.

There are extra modules and you can buy support or not as well.

Fonality sells a PBXtra which is a Asterisk based commercial PBX.  Not sure if they sell the software without hardware anymore or not.  I also do not think that it used to be priced 'per user' either.  You have to request a quote to see actual pricing.

Fonality aquired Trixbox a few years back and they spawned the trixbox pro from the open project.  I would be surprised if PBXtra is priced that much different as they are sort of competing products from the same company.
