append to end of sqlite

How do I append my sqlite files

I thought that it should work like a txt file and change the w to "a" or 'ab' but nothing happens when I do it ... any ideas

You need to use the Python-SQLite interface.  You can't just treat them like simple files and expect it to work right.  Here's one interface http://code.google.com/p/pysqlite/ but you should note that it requires the Database API 2.0.
