create ActiveX object in chrome , IE 8

hello :
i am trying to use activeX object on chrome , IE8
and here is the code but it is not working
however it works fine on IE 6
any help ??!!!!!
var oMachine = new ActiveXObject("Machine_ID.machID");

 alert ( oMachine.machineID());

Chrome does NOT run AX... This is a MS technology, HOWEVER there is a plugin available for this:


If you want cross browser maximum compatibility, use java applets instead.

Also note that AX won't work in safari, nutscrape and mozilla
