printer install problem on MAC

Hello Folks,

I have very little experience of MAC, but we have a new MAC with Lion 10.7 OSx.

I have a new Brother printer and the supplied software doesn't support the new Lion OS, so I downloaded an install package from the Brother website (three times already, and file size is OK when it comes down), but when I attempt to launch it, the program minimises down to the task bar and nothing happens ?

Any ideas would be appreciated .. thanks

What model Brother?
What happens when you click on the icon in the task bar?

Also, how is the brother connected? Wireless, ethernet or USB?

Also, you may not even need downloaded software. Have you tried just adding the printer in the Print and Fax preferences panel?

Connect your printer and make sure it is ON (not asleep).

Pull down the Apple Menu to System Preferences, the choose the Print and Fax preference panel. To add a printer click on the + button and the bottom of the printer list window. Then click not the default tab. If your printer shows up in the list, just double click it.
