ping in red hat enterprise 5

I have CUCM configured on vmware and i am configuring NTP server  but i am not able to ping the server .do you know how to ping an ip address in red hat enterprise 5?

If you are using a NAT network connection you will not be able to ping the the virtual machine.

If you want to ping the virtual machine, switch the network connected to Bridged.
ping <IP ADDR>

ping (ICMP echo) is not required for proper operation of IP stack. If you can connect in any way it is OK and ignore the ping failure.

long answer: find firewall rule which blocks ICMP echo.
