internet explorer links don't work in new tab

I have Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.3 and when I click a link, a new tab opens and the address moves to the new tab address bar,  but the page doesn't load. I have to go back to the original web page, right click the link and copy shortcut. Then go back to the new tab and paste the shortcut in the address bar, then hit enter and the page will load. Any ideas??

Take a look at Tools, Internet Options, General and click on Tab settings. See if anything there glares out. Here is a setup that works.

 IE9-Tab-Properties
Also, under Advance options, you can do an IE9 Reset to bring it back to out of the box settings. That does clear IE passwords, so at least be aware of that. Otherwise, Reset fixes issues.

I had previously set tabs to default values which didn't fix the problem. I reset internet explorer and that fixed it. Thanx!!
