Can I syncronize my PDA with Windows Mobile 6 Classic using a Linux-distribution?

I have Windows XP Pro SP3 (32-bit) and ActiveSync now that does not work very well to synchronized my PDA (WM6) with. Then, I planned to install a dual-boot system and install Windows Vista so I could use Mobile Device Center (instead of ActiveSync) for synchronization, but this seem to be impossible for me now (I have to find a license to buy for a new Windows Vista, shipping time etc.).

So I found these links that give advice on synchronization between WM6 and Linus:

It seems somewhat more inconvenient than doing synchronization in Windows but the main thing is that I would be able to synchronize MS Office applications (Excel, Word etc.) and other software, move installation files for installing on PDA, etc. But perhaps this approach would have shortcoming such as I can't synchronize MS Office because they reside in Windows. Although, would I be able to run most Windows-software in Linux if I use WINE (I think it's called)? Which Linux-distribution can I run most Windows-software on?

Or if there is any way for Linux to "read" data files from Windows applications (Excel, Word etc.) so they can be synchronized in Linux.

Probably the easiest solution is to use Wine:

Can I use Wine with any Linux-distribution, such as Mandriva and OpenSUSE, or does it work better with some Linux-distros than other? The main thing for me is to be able to transfer downloaded installation files to my PDA and to synchronize Office-applications.
