When installing exchange 2010 sp1 on a windows 2008 R2 server is get the following error:

Organization Preparation
Failed

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
    install-ExchangeSchema -LdapFileName ($roleInstallPath + "Setup\Data\"+$RoleSchemaPrefix + "schema2.ldf")

" was run: "There was an error while running 'ldifde.exe' to import the schema file 'C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\Setup\Data\PostExchange2003_schema2.ldf'. The error code is: 8245. More details can be found in the error file: 'C:\Users\sa_itsn\AppData\Local\Temp\2\ldif.err'".

There was an error while running 'ldifde.exe' to import the schema file 'C:\Windows\Temp\ExchangeSetup\Setup\Data\PostExchange2003_schema2.ldf'. The error code is: 8245. More details can be found in the error file: 'C:\Users\sa_itsn\AppData\Local\Temp\2\ldif.err'

The content of ldiff.err is:

Entry DN: CN=ms-Exch-ELC-Folder-Link,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=goversacc,DC=local
Add error on entry starting on line 113: Unwilling To Perform

The server side error is: 0x2114 Schema update failed: An attribute with the same link identifier already exists.

The extended server error is:

00002114: SvcErr: DSID-032603BC, problem 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), data 8468

An error has occurred in the program

The server will be installed in an existing domain with an exchange 2003 server (which will be replaced by this one).
I found this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917682, but the error is not exactly the same; I have the error for CN=ms-Exch-ELC-Folder-Link and not for the CNs mentioned in the article.

As far as I understand they just changed the linkid number to 11900 and 11901. Can I also do this for this object?

On my test machines:

Adsiedit > Schema
"CN=ms-Exch-ELC-Folder-Link,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=xxxxxx,DC=com" has got the linkID: 2054

From the above message, it looks like this object "ms-Exch-ELC-Folder-Link" is conflicting for the linkID
You can give a try by using one of the reverse linkID for this object

What do you mean with a reverse linkID?

My bad for typo
This should be used as...reserve linkIDs

Reference:
Note The Exchange Server Product Group has reserved linkIDs 11900 and 11901 for Exchange Server. These two linkID values do not conflict with existing or future versions of Exchange Server

I had exactly the same issue and also was able to solve it by replacing those 4 objects in the ldf files as specified in the german support link that you provided. Thanx!
