Windows 7 64 Bit, only IE can browse the web

Only IE8 can access the web.  Also, I can ping web sites.  However, nothing else can access the web.  I have checked for spyware and found none.

check your internet settings verify you do not have a proxy. Check your dns server make sure its correct try using open dns 208.67.222.222

Do you have any spyware ? Trying doing a scan with superanti spyware. Free online

I have verified all of the above.  No proxy, DNS Settings are correct, and I tried opendns's servers.

lets start with windows firewall. Please disable it.

Do you have any av software running eg AVG or norton ? Is any network protection activated?? Please turn it off and lets give it a try. Do you run zone alarm or any other network monitor ?

control panel-->system and security--> windows firewall-->allowed programs

I did disable the firewall, and also saw that Norton was installed.  I am removing it now to see if that works.

Norton Antivirus was the problem. It is so problematic, I should have known.  Thank you for your input.
