Common Access Card (CAC) problem

A CAC card is not readable for a user.  I login with my CAC card with no problem.  I reboot, the user still can't login with their CAC card but I can login with my CAC card.
I replace the keyboard that is reading the CAC card, now the user's CAC card works fine.
Everything is working fine for now.

In case the problem recurs, is the problem most likely with the old keyboard, with the cac card or with the ActivClient agent software reading the CAC card?

It's strange that the old keyboard worked fine with my CAC card but not the users.

In my experience, that is something inherent with the CAC itself.

I have personnel who are issued a new CAC that won't work with Dell keyboards, but work just fine with HP keyboards.  However, my CAC will still work well on either one.  Over time, we determined that it was a certain batch of CAC that were created around the same time.

After working with them for several years, I have found that it is much more common to find an actual problem with a newly issued CAC than with the reader hardware.  In this particular case you already performed your "troubleshooting 101" steps to confirm that, so you're on top of things!
