Create Apple Cloud Account without MobileMe files

How do I create (open) an Apple iCloud account, using my Apple ID, without transfering files from Mobile Me. I have local copies of all MobileMe files (including Gallery) and don't need to use MobileMe any longer. I just want to use iCloud with new data from my 3 iOS 5 devices.

I understand (from Apple) that MobileMe will work until 6/30/2012 anyway.

Is your Apple ID = MobileMe address? Then you have to transfer because iCloud is the replacement for MobileMe. BTW, only Address Book, iCal, Bookmmarks will transfer. Gallery will stay in MobileMe.
