Shares on a 2008 server
I have a share for everyone with individual folders in it. I having an issue of my users saving files to the root of the share. I want to prevent this from happening. I have a group everyonenoadministrator but If I give read only to the share I can't override with NTFS. How can I accomplish this?
Set users to read only on the root folder. Break inheritance on the child folders, copying the permissions and set to full control.
Combination fo Share and NTFS permissions are not cumulative. The most restrictive takes effect. So, mostly on Share you should grant everyone Full Control or remove that group and put there "Authenticated Users" with Full Control
Then under Security tab (NTFS) configure restrictions, what users can do
