How to export from a POS application with .gnt files

I have a client that is using Counterpoint POS 7.5. They will need to export all the databases to EXCEL format so that can be imported into Quickbooks POS.

I have no experience with this type of file format. Can I just open the database file using EXCEL or do I have to convert them first?

Go to System/Utilities/Database Export
It looks like it defaults to csv format, so just choose the tables to export and the location for the file.

The manual here http://www.accelerando.net/downloads/cp-configuration.pdf has all that and more (what I have referred to is on page 310 on the pdf).

The easiest way to do it is to create .csv (comma separated) or .txt (tab separated).
Just output it into a text file something like this
PartNumber, PartName, Quantity
2342343, Wheel, 34
341343, Rod, 65

And save it as a .csv file.
Or replace all the commas with tab characters and save it as a .txt. Excel can open either type of file easily.

Counterpoint has a data export utility. It claims it supports Excel. So it should be even easier than my first post implies. Just export it to .xls format or .csv if .xls isn't in the list.

@Tommy do you happen to know how I can access the export utility? I have access to the program remotely and would like to test it on some files I have backed up.

If not how do I create the .csv file?
