Document Versioning

I need assistance in making the number shown in the "Word Part" at the top right of this document automatically adjust to reflect the number found at the end of the file name if one is found.

Example:
Filename 1.2 would show 1.2 in the top right hand corner of the document.

The file is attached and assistance is greatly appreciated.

It is possible to display the file name in a field, but it isn't it isn't possible to extract part of the file name and to display it thus, using fields only. You would have to run some VBA code at some point to parse the document name and to display it so.

You may find that a better solution is to suggest a default save name that contains a custom property which keeps the version name.

Graham, Thank you!
Can you explain the following further and perhaps send an example?

You said "You may find that a better solution is to suggest a default save name that contains a custom property which keeps the version name."

Sounds awesome!

As I understand it.

1. Change name and version in doc.
2. Name and version of file name change when save is pressed.

You suggested an alternative and I was basically saying that was perfect.  My objective is simply to make renaming a file and updating the version information a simple process.

The current process is to rename in the doc and then rename the file to match.  I may be over complicating it.
