I need to install an old version of HP Universal postscript driver. I have been unable to find it on HP website, have done a search on EE, and on the web--no luck. Is there a way I can get the driver from another computer. I have several other PCs that have the right version but don't know how to "transfer" this over to another PC.

In Windows XP, if you go to Add Printer, under HP in the selection dialog is a "Hp LaserJet 4000 Series PS" driver.  Maybe that's it.

You can't transfer an installed driver to another PC. You can only reinstall it from the installer files. Check the other PCs to see if the files are there.

What is the reason why you need a particular version of the driver? Which version?

It must be the "HP Universal postscript driver"

Its because of how we have our printer setups in Great Plains Dynamics v 8 -- changing these setups is out of the question as it took us weeks when the system was first installed to print out all our orders in the proper format.

It would be helpful to know what version of the driver you are looking for. You can locate two ways:
1 - Print a test page from Windows on the printer properties page
2 - On the printer properties > About Tab, you should see the drivers and version numbers that have been installed.

Good Luck and post your updated comments.

Have you tried any of the drivers for the 4300 to see if they are the right one?  This site http://driveragent.com/b/archive/5d7345dd/HP-Universal-Printing-PS#preview claims to have it but be careful when downloading anything.

The driver version you are looking for is 60.051.341.?? Unfortunately, HP does not publicly archive it's drivers. I do not have that driver in my archive. sorry.

The one DaveBaldwin directed you to is DriverVer=02/10/2006,60.051.342.00. That may be similar enough to function correctly for you.

It is worth a try. At least you know you are looking for a driver dated late 2005 or early 2006

Good Luck and post your updated comments.

Thanks for the suggestions but did not work--used printer manger to backup from working PC and did a restore to the non working PC and even that did not work. At this point I am giving up on finding the right driver online and will try to find the original CD that came with the printer--client must have it somewhere.
