url rewrite paging

Hi,
Using Helicon urlrewrite. I am trying to set up paging on my blog.
say
/blog/2011/2
to go to
/blog/?yr=2011&p=2

My url rewrite is:
RewriteRule  blog/([^/?]+)/([^/?]+) /blog/?yr=$1&p=$2 [I,U]

My Rewrite.log is:

What have I done wrong?

It looks like you've got a second RewriteRule, or second .htaccess file (and as such a second RewriteRule) that is being applied. Can you confirm?

That was it alright. there was a .htaccess file inside the blog folder.
I'm a numpty not spotting that.
cheers.
