Recommendation for Open Source DNS

Hi Experts:

I was trying to decide between open source DNS for Linux.  I wanted few recommendations between open source DNS servers.

I need the DNS server for my application servers. I will build he server from source and then customize for my applications.

Any recommendation or comparative statements about them would be of great help.

Best Regards,

BIND is the most popular and well-supported DNS server for Linux.  Nearly all of the DNS root servers run BIND -- last time I checked only 2 did not, they were running djbdns.

I'd venture to say that at least 75% of the DNS servers on the internet use BIND.

No need to compile it from source if there is a package available for your distribution.

Woops I meant NSD, not djbdns.

Here is a link to help you decide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_DNS_server_software
